Reflections on Warriors of the Word: Speaking, Sharing, and the Spirit at Work
Have you ever tried teaching on something you love—only to find it teaches you in return? That’s how I felt leading a four-week course on Warriors of the Word. God’s Spirit keeps showing me that prayer connects us all in ways we can’t always see.

I’ve had several recent opportunities to speak about my book, Warriors of the Word: Harnessing the Power of Intercessory Prayer. Each experience has been a blessing. I approached every speaking engagement the same way I approached writing the book—by letting the Spirit guide me about what to say.
The four-week course on intercessory prayer was, by far, the most challenging. I could talk about prayer and cite scripture for hours—honestly, that was the biggest challenge in writing the book itself! The most difficult part was condensing it to a manageable size, making it both affordable and accessible to readers.
Lessons from Teaching Online
The course was held virtually over Zoom, and that brought its own learning curve. Speaking online is very different from standing in front of a live audience. There’s little feedback—no nodding heads, no “Amens,” and no laughter when I thought I was being funny. I thank God for the few people who kept their cameras on; their faces gave me reassurance that someone was following along. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have known if anyone was listening!
I also had no idea how many people were on the call. I’m sure there’s a way to find out, but I’m not that tech-savvy—especially while I’m talking. That uncertainty was humbling, and it made me depend even more on the Spirit to carry the message where it needed to go.
A New Appreciation for Preachers
Preparing a new presentation every week gave me a whole new respect for pastors and teachers of the Word. It’s daunting work! You have to truly love your subject matter, and even then, it’s a process of waiting for divine inspiration. For me, each lesson required prayer, listening, and surrender—because I know I’m spiritually accountable for what I write and say about prayer. The anxiety around “getting it right” was tremendous. I can’t imagine having to do that every week—or several times a week—as so many preachers do.
Joy in the Book Club
The book club discussion was pure delight. I loved talking with those women about Warriors of the Word. I rarely get such direct feedback from readers, and the conversation flowed easily. We could have talked for hours. Their enthusiasm and insight reminded me why I wrote the book in the first place—to inspire people to pray more deeply, more intentionally, and with more confidence in God’s power.
The Book’s Growing Resonance
All of these experiences have deeply humbled me. I prayed to God for inspiration for a book, and I am still awed by how He used me to write His book about prayer. Now that it’s out in the world, I can see it making a real impact on people’s lives. Readers tell me they’re praying more regularly and witnessing God’s will in action. I couldn’t be more grateful—or more in awe of what God is doing.
There’s a growing spiritual resonance around this work. The same Holy Spirit who guided me as I wrote the book continues to move through it. Readers who genuinely connect with the book often tell me they feel the same Spirit stirring within them as they read. Together, we’re discovering something powerful: that we are not separate, but one body in Christ. When one of us prays, all of us pray—and God hears.
I feel blessed to be part of this faith movement and to fellowship with those who have read Warriors of the Word. Thank you for letting me share this journey with you.
